"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse..."

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse..."
Malachi 3:10a

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. “

Why Should I Give?

Scripture instructs us to honor the Lord with our wealth (Prov. 3:9), to give cheerfully, without reluctance or compulsion (2 Cor. 9:7) and to give with an attitude of worship. We give to the Lord out of gratitude for his bountiful care. Without your giving, it would be impossible for the church doors to remain open and for our ministries to grow. Consider Jesus’ response to the poor widow in the Gospel of Luke:

As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” – Luke 21:1-4

“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38

Larry & Patty Strunk – Walker, Kentucky

“Our mission is to try daily to surrender our will to His and to meet the needs of a hurting and lost community. Through nearly losing our lives, God got our attention! We desire to give Him all that we have now, and in searching the Scripture, prayer, and council, Larry felt a call on our lives to the hills of KY. Larry knew that God had told him to build a home, and He would fill it. We sold everything in MI and used our profit to begin building our mission. We now have six children and three special needs women, also my parents who moved across the road. Four children came to us after their mom passed in March last year. We were given permanent custody through dad and the lawyer. Two have been with us after their grandmother become too ill to take care of them – we took her in too. Our mission is to first of all go! (action verb) and compel them (with the love of Jesus, trying to reach and meet their needs with food and clothing, love and compassion, and sometimes and little muscle work. Then to share the Gospel and to disciple. Also, to teach the precious children the Bible and work ethic (which is really lacking among our young people). We have never claimed to be preachers or missionaries but lay people in church just doing our reasonable duty. We are so thankful for a second chance at life, and our desire above all is to hear our Savior say ‘Well done thou good and faithful servant.’ We desire your prayer, and visits, and thank you for believing in the ministry of helping hurting hearts, especially the children! Your support has encouraged and helped us to be the hands and feet. Thank you for so giving to the Lord

All our love,
Larry & Patty Strunk
